Ronald Waterreus started his career in 1992 playing for Roda JC. After joining PSV Eindhoven in he quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Dutch Premier League, eventually being selected for the Dutch National Team. After ten seasons (285 games) as PSV's number one goalkeeper, Waterreus transferred to Manchester City for one season. He joined Scottish Premier League-side Glasgow Rangers in 2005. He was also involved in Rangers' historic 2005-2006 Champions League run where they reached the knock-out stage for the first time. In 2006 he signed a short-term contractwith AZ Alkmaar, replacing the injured Joey Didulica. In January 2007 he left the club again and agreed to move to New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer. He played seven games for the Dutch National Team and won the Dutch Championship four times with PSV. He won the Scottish Championship once and was elected Best Goalkeeper in the Netherlands in 2001.
